Krakatau volcano (Sunda Strait, Indonesia): eruption has already ended or activity pauses
Wednesday Feb 22, 2017 10:10 AM | BY: T
Seismic trace of Krakatau this morning, showing no significant signs of activity (image: Andi / VolcanoDiscovery)
The volcano stopped erupting as our correspondent Andi who is currently at the volcano observatory reported.
Whether it is only a brief(?) pause or whether the eruption was in fact a very short-lived one is impossible to say. We will follow the activity closely and update as needed.
For the time being, the planned last-minute eruption tours
next week and in mid March are on hold. In case the volcano restarts to erupt in the next days, it would be promising to go, otherwise, we have to postpone them.
