Monday Jul 16, 2018 16:33 PM | BY: T
Krakatau on 14 July evening with a lava flow (?) on the southern flank (image: Andi Rosadi / VolcanoDiscovery Indonesia)

Strombolian explosion at Anak Krakatau (image: Andi Rosadi / VolcanoDiscovery Indonesia)
Mild to moderate strombolian activity continues at Anak Krakatau. It seems also that a lava flow is active on the upper southern flank of the cone.
Andi, our expedition leader in Indonesia returned from a volcano special tour
with a small group today sent a quick report with the attached pictures:
"We cameback safely after climbed to the rim. ...
Explosion are still occurring, minor strombolian-type, ejecting basaltic fragments of lava and lapili... it has been great so far.
It's fantastic to watch from close."
