Krakatau volcano (Sunda Strait, Indonesia): increasing activity, possibly paroxysm with lava fountains and lava flow

The activity of the volcano has increased yesterday. Available data suggest it might have had a so-called paroxysm, a temporary strong peak of activity including possibly lava fountaining and lava flow emission.
Strong glow was visible from the coast in 40 km distance, seemingly showing a lava flow that descended on the southeastern flank, probably accompanied by near-continuous strombolian activity. On the attached picture, a steam plume is visible that originates from the lava flow reaching the coast.
The volcano observatory reported continuous tremor and a strong thermal signal is visible on MODIS satellite data. VAAC Darwin reports continuous ash emissions to low altitudes.

Personal note: We are right now on the way to the island and will be out of reach until next weekend.
