Krakatau volcano (Sunda Strait, Indonesia): weekly volcanic activity report 25-31 Dec 2019

On 29 December
Strombolian eruption at Krakatau volcano (image: PVMBG)
PVMBG recorded an ash plume that rose 656 ft (200 m)
above the summit and drifted N.
On 30 December
satellite images suggested that the crater lake was almost gone, replaced by tephra deposits and a growing cone.
PVMBG noted that during 30-31 December
seismicity increased, minor inflation was recorded. An ash plumes reached 9,185 ft (2,800 m) altitude.
On 31 December
at 06:51 local time surveillance cameras observed dense gray-to-black ash plume that rose around 1 km above the summit and drifted S.
The Alert Level remained at 2 (on a scale of 1-4), and the public was warned to remain outside of the 2-km-radius hazard zone from the crater.
