Krakatau volcano (Sunda Strait, Indonesia): explosive activity continues

PVMBG recorded during 6-12 January
white ash plumes that rose 50-200 m
above the summit crater.
On 7 January
an explosion at Krakatau generated a dense dark ash plume, which reached approx. 3,323 ft (1,013 m)
The Alert Level remained at 2 (on a scale of 1-4), and the public was warned to remain outside of the 2-km-radius hazard zone from the crater.

PVMBG recorded that gray ash plumes rose 2,200 m
above the summit and on 5 January
an ash plume reached 4,307 ft (1,313 m)

On 29 December
PVMBG recorded an ash plume that rose 656 ft (200 m)
above the summit and drifted N.
