The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) reported that surveillance cameras observed an eruption on 11 January at 15:05 local time. An eruption generated an ash plumes which reached approx. 8,717 ft (2,657 m) altitude and drifted E. Tepha was ejected as far as 300 m away from the crater. An ashfall was reported on Yakushima Island.
An eruption continued until at 07:30 local time on 12 January. An ash plumes rose 1,312 ft (400 m) above the crater and drifted SW
The Alert level remains at 3 on a scale of 0-5.
