The volcano continues produce a large steam plume and sproadic ash explosions, sometimes strong ones: on 25 December, an eruption at 17:24 (local time) caused ash fall up to 6 km away, and a smaller was recorded this morning at 6:15 (local time) and sent a plume of ash to a height of several hundred meters above the Tompaluan crater.

Another explosion occurred at Lokon-Empung at 12:09 local time this morning. The plume from the eruption rose about 3 km. The explosion was so loud that, according to local press articles, it created a mild panic in nearby villages (Kakaskasen, Tomohon). ... [more]
