The local observatory Servicio Nacional de Geología y Minería de Chile raised the alert level for the volcano to "yellow", as an increase of seismic activity has been recorded during the past two weeks.

Long-period (LP) earthquakes had been more frequent at 4-11 km depth over the current month associated with gas bubbles forming.
Volcano-tectonic (VT) quakes, which relate to magma moving, fracturing rocks or fluid movements, have been detected as well, but at lesser intensity at 2-7 km depth.
No ground deformation was detected so far.
