A volcanic ash plume at estimated 7,000 ft (2.1 km) altitude extending 70 km north from the volcano was reported this morning (VAAC Darwin).

Ash emissions occurred Tuesday (25th), producing a plume at 8,000 ft (2.4 km) altitude that extended 100 km to the west. (Darwin VAAC)

A small explosion occurred this morning. Darwin VAAC reported an ash plume to 7,000 ft (2.1 km) altitude extending 8 km ESE from the volcano.

Ash emissions continue. VAAC Darwin reported a volcanic ash plume extending 140 km SE of the volcano at 20,000 ft (6 km) altitude this morning.

Smaller ash emissions from the volcano have been observed during the past days. Yesterday, an ash plume at estimated 9,000 ft (2.7 km) altitude drifted 40 km NW (VAAC Darwin).

It seems that no fatalities have occurred during the large explosion on Friday (31 July). According to news articles, only one child was injured by falling lapilli, but survived and could be treated in a hospital. Read more... read all

A large explosive eruption occurred at the volcano today. The event produced an ash column that rose to approx. 65,000 ft (20 km) altitude and started to drift SW. Read more...

According to Darwin VAAC, an ash plume from the volcano rose 8,000 ft and extended 70 km to the NE today. The volcano seems to be in a phase of intermittent mild explosive activity.
