Marapi volcano (Sumatra, Indonesia): small eruptions

14:13 PM | BY: TThe first one occurred at 7:49 am (local time WIB), producing an ash plume of 300 meters height, and the second at 8:32 am with an ash plume rising 600 meters.
The alert status had previously been raised from Normal to Alert (level 1 to 2) on 3 August and an exclusion zone of 3 km radius around the crater is in place.

Mount Marapi volcano in West Sumatra had new ash emissions today, a local newspaper reported. "Smoke" (=volcanic ash) was seen being emitted from the summit crater between 8-9 am local time this morning and produced a plume rising about 300 m. Read all
