Background:

Marble Mountain, an andesitic shield volcano lying SE of Mount St. Helens and north of Swift Reservoir, was last active about 0.16 million years ago (Wood and Kienle, 1990). It lies at the NW end of a chain of Quaternary volcanoes extending SE to the Colombia River.
