Another series of a seismic swarm occurred beneath the northwest flank of volcano's summit as the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO) noted.
On 29 March at 02:30 local time the seismic network detected about 130 earthquakes located 42 km W-NW of the volcano.
Most of these earthquakes had been frequent in a cluster about 2 km (1 mile) wide and at depth approx. 6–8 km (3.5–5 miles). The largest recorded event reached magnitude M 2.7.
Mauna Loa is not erupting and clustering of shallow earthquakes in this region does not mean an eruption is imminent.
