Mauna Loa volcano (Hawai'i): HVO weekly report
Sunday Dec 08, 2019 21:00 PM | BY: MATTHEW
HVO report that during the past week, approximately 70 small-magnitude earthquakes (nearly all smaller than M2.0) were detected beneath the upper elevations of Mauna Loa. Most of the earthquakes occurred at shallow depths of less than 6 km (around 4 miles) below sea level.

Global Positioning System (GPS) and Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) measurements show continued summit inflation, consistent with magma supply to the volcano's shallow storage system.
Readings of fumarole temperature and gas concentrations at the Sulphur Cone monitoring site on the Southwest Rift Zone remain stable.

The seismicity and deformation levels on Mauna Loa volcano have not changed considerably over the past few weeks, but still remain elevated above background levels. ... [more]
Mauna Loa (Hawaii) volcano activity update: seismicity above background, continued summit inflation.
Saturday, Oct 05, 2019
During the past week, approximately 40 small-magnitude earthquakes (all smaller than M2.5) were detected beneath the upper elevations of Mauna Loa. Most of the earthquakes occurred at shallow to intermediate depths of less than 10 km (~6 miles) below ground level. ... [more]
Mauna Loa volcano (Hawai'i) activity update: alert level raised to yellow due to increase in seismic activity
Wednesday, Jul 03, 2019
The alert level for the volcano has been raised to yellow two days ago. This doesn't mean that an eruption is expected to occur in a near future, but acknowledges that the volcano is currently preparing itself for its next eruption, which will come, sooner or later, but currently without possibility to indicate a specific time frame. ... Mauna Loa volcano (Hawai'i) activity update: slight increase of small earthquakes, but no signs of impending eruption
Saturday, Jun 08, 2019
The Hawaiian volcano observatory (HVO) reported a slight increase in tiny earthquakes at shallow depths beneath the summit caldera as well as continuing trend of inflation. However, even though these are likely long-term precursors of the volcano preparing itself for its next eruption, current unrest does not merit an increase of the official alert level (green), and no eruption is expected in the near to medium-term future (weeks to months). ...
