After a phase of relative calm since beginning May, two powerful explosions
occurred at the volcano today, at 09:13 and 09:27 local time.
The both eruptions took place 328 seconds and 100 seconds respectively.
An explosions at the volcano generated a dense dark ash plumes, which reached approx. 20,000 ft (6,000 m)
altitude and drifted W. Ash fall was reported in Girimulyo District area and Kulon Progo.
An eruption could occur suddenly or with little precursory activity.
Before this eruption a seismic activity was increased. On 20 June the seismic station recorded 18 volcano-tectonic earthquakes.
