Lava Dome in Merapi's crater has disappeared

Saturday Oct 20, 2012 08:43 AM | BY: VOLCANOBULLETIN

A dome that was last seen in September 2012 has since disappeared sometime in October. The probable cause was probably non-volcanic collapse.

The CVGHM still maintains the Alert Level at green (normal).

The dome is not very active yet, but has a very small glowing part of lava at the western end. This activity is consistent with the latest data from the Merapi volcano observatory reports on seismic levels at the time. [more]
