The susceptibility of the actively growing southwestern lava dome is high enough to trigger large block-and-ash flows caused by the dome's gravitational partial collapse.
In the early morning today, the pyroclastic flow took place from the summit area, racing down the Kali Krasak ravine with a total length of about 1,600 meters. Buoyant ash plumes separated from the pyroclastic density current (so-called phoenix clouds) and drifted towards the southeast.
