Current seismic signal at Momotombo volcano (MOMN station, INETER)
A small seismic swarm occurred at the volcano today. A cluster of small earthquakes of magnitudes around 1 were detected on 6 Nov under the southern flank.

Depth vs time of earthquakes at Momotombo volcano
The intense swarm of shallow earthquakes under the volcano's SE flank seems to have more or less ended. If it was caused by an intrusion of magma, it has (as in most cases) not lead to an eruption although a second swarm could restart at any time. ...more

The earthquake crisis has intensified today and developed into a swarm of shallow (around 5 km depth) earthquakes SE of the volcano. INETER reported already more than 30 quakes between magnitude 1-3 today. ...more

Location of yesterday's earthquake under Momotombo volcano, Nicaragua
A swarm of quakes including a shallow magnitude 3.8 felt earthquake occurred yesterday morning (16:38 GMT) at 3.5 km depth under the NW flank of the volcano. There are no reports of other unusual activity at the volcano.

Recent earthquakes near Momotombo volcano
Shallow, possibly volcanic earthquakes continue to occur frequently in two areas near Momotombo volcano: the first cluster is located under the SE slope under the the shoreline of Lago de Nicaragua, the second at about 2-3 km depth 10 km to the NW near the older volcanic El Hoyo. volcanic complex.

A seismic swarm has been occurring at the volcano during the past 24 hours, including a magnitude 3.0 earthquake yesterday. This could indicate a magmatic intrusion happening at depth, but so far, no unusual surface activity has been noted. ...more

Yesterday's seismic recording from Momotombo volcano (MOMN station, INETER)
Some seismic unrest has been going on at the volcano. Local and volcanic earthquakes as well as what seem to be long-period events (corresponding to fluid movements) have been increased recently.
