Momotombo volcano last night
Activity at the volcano continues, but at lower intensity than during the first days of the new eruption. Strombolian explosions at the summit crater accompany the emission of a steam-ash plume rising up to approx. 1000 m, an possibly still continued, but very weak lava flow extrusion. ...more

As this morning's webcam images already had suggested, a new fully-blown magmatic eruption is now in progress at the volcano: pulsating lava fountains (or continuous, strong strombolian activity) feed a new lava flow that slowly descends on the NE side of the volcano, and a dense ash plume that rises approx. 2-2.5 km above the volcano and drifts NW. ...more

It seems that the volcano continues to erupt and might have been intensifying its activity with now near-continuous explosions. ...more

Eruption of Momotombo volcano this morning (from TN8 Nicaragua video)
A series of at least 4 small explosions occurred at the volcano this morning, at 07:49, 08:17, 08:42, and 08:55 local time. The eruptions, in particular the last and largest one, produced steam and ash plumes that rose up to approx. 1 km from the summit. ...more
