Ash emission from Ruiz on Saturday (19 Sep 2015)
The internal and external activity of the volcano has increased during the past two weeks. Several pulses of tremor were accompanied by ash emissions that produced plumes that rose up to 1.5 2.5 km above the crater, last on 17 and 19 Sep. As fall occurred in areas west of the volcano including Pereira, Dosquebradas, Santa Rosa, Chinchiná, Villamaría, and Manizales. ...more

Intermittent ash emissions began to occur at the volcano again since 13 July. The volcano observatory of Manizales reports increased seismic activity, related to internal fluid movements and rock fracturing processes. ...more

Mild ash emissions continue to occur irregularly from the volcano, producing plumes of a few hundred meters height. More intense activity yesterday prompted authorities to close the Manizales regional airport "La Nubia" until 31 May.

Activity at the volcano has increased during the past week. Accompanied by elevated seismic activity, ash emissions have been occurring since 14 April. The strongest phase of activity was on 19 April, when ash plumes rose to estimated 900 meters above the summit. ...more
