Seismic recording from 01-07 am local time 10 Dec on OLL station (INGEOMINAS)Occasional tremor pulses and volcanic quakes continue at low to moderate levels.
Tremor increased and was sustained for several hours during early 10 Dec (local time), possibly accompanied by a small emission of ash.

A small eruption might have occurred at Nevado del Ruiz prior to 14:47 GMT yesterday 15 Nov. As a precaution for aviation, Washington VAAC issued an alert of possible ash in the atmosphere. The report itself was based on the detection of a small hot spot on satellite imagery and seismic data. No ash could be identified on satellite images due to cloud cover and darkness, and the local volcano observatory has not (yet) confirmed any new eruption. [more]

During the past week, Nevado del Ruiz showed in increase in seismic activity with more frequent small quakes. They were mostly located N and NW of the Arenas crater at depths between 4 and 10 km. The largest was a magnitude 2.2 event on 5 Nov at 01:38 local time. [more]
