Volcano news and tours: Armenia, Kuril Islands (VolcanoDiscovery Newsletter #27, Nov/Dec 2019)

Dear friends and guests,

it has been rather calm in the volcano world recently, but here are a few significant events to mention:
- a new eruption at remote Shishaldin volcano in the Aleutian Islands,- it seems it had intense phases of lava fountaining and produced new lava flows onto its ice-covered slopes;
- likely, we're seeing the early stage of a new eruptive phase at Klyuchevskoy in Kamchatka, hoping it will increase in the near future!
- an intensification of explosions at Sakurajima in Japan, a great volcano to visit in any case.
Other volcanoes, which had been active in the past months, continue to be so, for example Karangetang, Dukono, Ibu, Merrapi and Krakatau in Indonesia, Pacaya, Fuego and Santiaguito in Guatemala, Popocatépetl in Mexico, Nevado de Chillán in Chile, Sangay, Reventador in Ecuador, Sabancaya in Peru, Etna, Stromboli in Italy and many others...

If you're curious to see what it can be like on our volcano tours, here are two guest galleries from the most recent trips to Italy and Krakatau:
Krakatau Volcano Special Nov 2019 by Andrej Nikiforov, our expedition leader on the Kamchatka expedition
Grand Tour of Italy by Markus Heuer, long-term repeating customer
