Nishino-shima volcano (Volcano Islands, Japan): continuing lava flows

Lava flows at Nishino-shima volcano (image: @tonyveco/twitter)The lava flows eruption continues at the volcano since the last update. The eruption seems to be mainly effusive. Lava flows continue to be active on the northwest and northeast slopes of the volcano as it is traveling from the summit vent where they reached (or maybe are still entering) the shore.
As satellite imagery shows, emissions of gas and steam rising from the island.

A new eruption has been occurring at the volcano since mid Dec last year. The eruption seems to be mainly effusive, as satellite imagery shows lava flows traveling from the summit vent towards the NE where they reached (or maybe are still entering) the shore. read all
