Nishino-shima volcano (Volcano Islands, Japan) activity update

The currently fastest growing island of the world remains active, with both effusive (lava flows enlarging the island) and explosive activity (strombolian and phreatomagmatic = water-magma explosions).
Recent satellite images collected by Culture Volcan prove that over the past month, lava flows have been mostly active towards the eastern part and shore of the island, where a new platform has been built.

Nishinoshima volcano (Japan) - Smithsonian / USGS Weekly Volcanic Activity Report for 11 June-17 June 2014 (New Activity / Unrest)

Photographs and video taken from a Japanese Coast Guard helicopter on 11 and 13 June revealed continuing eruptive activity at Nishinoshima. Steaming along the shoreline indicated at least two locations with active, or recently active, lava ocean entries, possibly tube-fed since no surface incandescence was visible.
