Background
The Birao volcano group consists of Birao-yama and Sattomonai andesitic-to-rhyolotic stratovolcanoes. Birao volcano was active about 0.5-0.3 million years ago and Sattomonai volcano about 0.1 million years ago (Nakano et al, 2001-).---
