Background
The 3-km-wide island of Chagulak in the Islands of the Four Mountains group is the summit of a small, unstudied stratovolcano NE of Amukta volcano. The two volcanoes coalesce at depth although they are separated by 7 km of ocean. Yunaska volcano lies about 20 km to the east. Sharp-topped Chagulak volcano rises steeply to 1142 m and is ruggedly dissected on the east side. No historical eruptions have been recorded from Chagulak volcano, and its age is not precisely known.---
