Chirpoi volcano (Kurile Islands, Russia): video of lava entering the sea

Littoral explosion at the lava sea entry, Snow volcano, Chirpoy, early Oct 2015 (PONANT video snapshot)
Passengers on board a Russian cruise ship documented the recent (and perhaps still ongoing) effusive / explosive eruption of Snow volcano. When passing the island in Oct 2015, lava flows were actively reaching the sea, creating spectacular littoral explosions:

The current eruptive phase from the Snow volcano (one of the active vents inside the Chirpoy caldera) started in November 2012 when a large plume of steam was spotted on satellite data, suggesting a new lava flow had reached the shore. A strong thermal signal was also visible on satellite data in the following weeks and months.
This activity continued intermittently during 2013 and 2014. Comparison of various satellite images compiled by Culture Volcan shows that over time, several lava flows were emplaced over each other, enlarging the small island.
The most recent phase started probably in May 2015, when again a steam plume could be identified from a new lava flow into the sea. During the summer months, activity had declined, but not stopped and intensified again by October. The passengers on the Ponant cruise (s. video above) were lucky enough to witness the rare spectacle of lava meeting the sea, generating impressive explosions at the contact ("littoral explosions") and steam/ash plumes.
