Diffuse ash emissions from Copahue this afternoon
Activity at the surface and internally (seismicity) has been relatively calm recently. The volcano produced only only minor emissions of steam and occasionally some ash.

Diffuse ash emissions were noted during 16-18, 21-23 and today (28 Nov). These suggest that small strombolian activity continues to occur inside the El Agrio crater.
In a special bulletin, SERNAGEOMIN reported a shallow volcanic earthquake of magnitude 3.1 occurred yesterday night (Sun) at 23:33 local time 4.6 km NNE from the summit at 1.4 km depth. The quake was likely the result of rock fracturing due to pressurized fluids which could indicate a magma intrusion event. Several aftershocks were reported as well.
The alert level of the volcano remains at Yellow (second lowest only) and an exclusion zone of 1.5 km radius around the crater is in place.
