Background
The Kinpo-san stratovolcano and lava dome were active from about 1.4 to 0.18 million years ago (Toshida et al., 2006). In total it is about 150 km2 in area and comprised of four main cones and some "parasitic" lava domes (Yanagi et al., 1988). Deposits mainly consist of andesitic lava flows and pyroclastics, the latter of which are more heavily dissected (Yanagi et al., 1988).---
