Steaming Kizimen volcano this morning
Activity has picked up at the volcano again. An ash plume was reported this morning by VAAC Tokyo to 17,000 ft (5 km) altitude extending north. Webcam images show a significant steam plume which possibly contains ash. ...meer

Activity has been low recently. It appears that the growth of the summit lava dome has paused or stopped. KVERT now keeps the volcano on level "green".

VAAC Tokyo reported an ash plume drifting at 13,000 ft (4 km) altitude from the volcano this morning at 05:28 UTC. Webcam images show a sustained steam-gas plume that might contain some ash. Kizimen volcano this morning (KVERT webcam)
Activity (extrusion of lava at the summit) continues, but has decreased recently, as incandescent rockfalls have become more rare. Seismic activity remains "moderate" (KVERT) and strong degassing can be seen. About a week ago, the prominent spine at the summit dome collapsed.

The volcano continues to extrude a viscous lava flow from the summit vent, producing hot avalanches on the western and eastern flanks and strong degassing. KVERT reports moderate seismic activity.

Glowing rock avalanche from Kizimen last night
The lava dome continues to grow at the top of the volcano and produce incandescent rockfalls and small pyroclastic flows, generating ash plumes.
