The activity at the reshaped volcano remains intermittent.
During the ongoing Krakatau to Bali tour, a small group with expedition leader Galih Yati managed to land and visit Anak Krakatau Island and observed strong steam emissions from the still water-filled crater from close:

Water temperatures in the crater lake seemed high, estimated about 50-80 deg Celsius. Weak to moderate thermal signals continued over the past weeks, with intermittent stronger explosions.

The volcano remains restless and produces intermittent explosions every few days or so from its new crater. These are likely caused by overheated water in the upper conduit flashing to steam, although no precise information is available. ... Lees alle
