Pacaya volcano (Guatemala) activity update: mild strombolian activity
Thursday May 23, 2013 08:08 AM | DOOR: T
Strombolian activity persists in the Mackenney crater, which is slowly filling with new lava. The activity can be heard from San Francisco de Sales and ejects incandescent bombs to about 40 m height. As the crater continues to fill up, INSIVUMEH thinks that during the coming days or weeks, new lava flows are likely to appear.
Thursday, May 16, 2013
Strombolian activity has returned or increased and is now ejecting incandescent material to heights of 100 m. Seismic data seem currently not available from INSIVUMEH's website.
Tuesday, May 14, 2013
Activity seems to have decreased. INSIVUMEH no longer reports and strombolian activity visible or audible.
Monday, May 06, 2013
Weak strombolian activity probably continues. It can not always be observed, but only heard and shows on the seismic recording.
Tuesday, Apr 30, 2013
Small strombolian activity continues from the Mackenney crater.
Saturday, Apr 27, 2013
Weak strombolian activity from the Mackenney crater, well visible at night, continues and has been showing a gradual increase over the past days. This is also evident from the seismic recording. Some explosions can be heard in up to 3 km distance.
