Volcano news: Pacaya (Guatemala)
Pacaya volcano (Guatemala) activity update
Monday Jul 22, 2013 03:04 AM | DOOR: T
Seismic signal last night from Pacaya (PCG station, INSIVUMEH)
Activity has dropped at bit apparently. Although the seismic signal suggests that small strombolian-type explosions still seem to continue, INSIVUMEH reported only degassing and no sounds of explosions heard.
Friday, Jul 19, 2013
Mild strombolian activity from the Mackenney crater continues.
Tuesday, Jul 09, 2013
Mild strombolian activity persists at the volcano's crater. Some explosions can be heard in up to 5 km distance.
Friday, Jul 05, 2013
Weak to moderate strombolian activity from the Mackenney crater continues. The small intracater cone has grown to about 25 m height, INSIVUMEH reported. Some explosions can be heard in up to 5 km distance.
Monday, Jul 01, 2013
INSIVUMEH reports no explosions heard or seen, but the seismic signal suggests that small explosive activity continues.
Thursday, Jun 27, 2013
Mild, typical strombolian activity has established itself inside the Mackenney crater. "Dry" (not containing much ash) explosions occur frequently and eject incandescent scoria to about 25 m height above the crater and an intra-crater cone, now about 15 m high, is being formed inside the crater. Some of the explosions can be heard in up to 5 km distance. At night, glow can be seen from the crater.
