Puyehue volcano (Chile): new eruption

A significant eruption is taking place at Puyehue-Cordón Caulle volcano in central Chile. The eruption started on 4 June with a large explosion that sent an ash plume to 10 km altitude (FL350, 35,000 feet a.s.l.) which was moving towards SE into Argentina. More than 3500 people have been evacuated.
The volcano last erupted in 1990, which was a small event.
