On the afternoon of September 6, strong steaming was observed producing a plume reaching 3 km height above the crater. The plume contained some ash and during the night 6-7 Sep, an explosion was observed that ejected incandescent material which fell on and outside of the northwestern crater rim. The next morning (7 Sep), steam and minor ash emissions produced plumes between 1-3 kim height.

VAAC Washington warns about a possible volcanic ash cloud rising to 6 km altitude from Reventador volcano, which was first detected at 11:15 GMT today. If it is ash, it means a new eruptive phase has started at Reventador. Another possibility is that is a storm cloud. So far, there are no other reports about an explosion. ...

IG reports a strong steam plume rising 1500 m above the summit, but does no more mention any active lava flow.
