Degassing from Sabancaya volcano last week (IGP)
Since mid June, an increase in internal activity has been recorded at the volcano. The Geophysical Institute of Peru reported a swarm of shallow earthquakes in an area at 6 km depth approx. 7 km north of the volcano's summit. In addition, increased degassing has been observed. A small magmatic intrusion has been taking place under the volcano recently, a report of the Geophysical Institute of Peru (IGP) concludes. Activity at the volcano could increase over the next few days, but no violent explosive activity is currently expected. ...meer
