Sangay volcano (Ecuador) activity update: no recent explosions reported

No recent reports of eruptions from remote Sangay are available, but this might simply incidate that its typical strombolian eruptions are too small to be detected by the remote satellite based monitoring systems.

Based on a SIGMET report, the Washington VAAC reported a possible eruption and ash plume from Sangay on 28 May. A later notice stated that a pilot reported an ash plume at an altitude of 6.1 km (20,000 ft) a.s.l. Ash was not identified in satellite imagery. [meer...]
