Shiveluch on the Kamchatka Peninsula in eastern Russia continues to be very active. An eruption last week produced an ash plume reaching 7.5 km.

On 31 July-7 August seismic activity from Shiveluch was above background levels. There was a large daily thermal anomaly over the lava dome. Video camera data shows, that ash plumes rose to an altitude of 4 km on 2 August. The Level of Concern Color Code remained at Orange. [meer...]

The seismic activity at Shiveluch was above background levels during 6-14 November. Ash plumes rose to an altitude of 6.8 km and hot avalanches descended the lava dome on 6 November producing ash plumes that rose to an altitude of 4 km.
