Shiveluch volcano (Kamchatka): ash plume to 21,000 ft altitude reported
Thursday Feb 25, 2016 08:15 AM | DOOR: T
Based on satellite data, Tokyo VAAC reported an eruption plume from the volcano that rose to estimated 21,000 ft (6.4 km) altitude yesterday evening and drifted NW.
The volcano overall has been a bit calmer recently. This and a similar report a few days ago indicate that activity continues, and produces occasional moderate-sized explosions and/or pyroclastic flows event from the active lava dome. In many cases, cloud cover prevents visual observation of the volcano from the webcam.

Activity at the volcano seems to be increasing again. Constant glow and incandescent rockfalls at the active lava dome are visible on webcam imagery. ...
Friday, Dec 11, 2015
The volcano continues to slowly extrude viscous lava at its dome, which sometimes results in smaller or larger avalanches as well as explosions, both producing ash plumes. Over the past weeks, this activity has been a bit lower than previously.
Monday, Nov 23, 2015
The extrusive activity of viscous lava into the active dome continues with little significant change, but seems to have picked up a bit recently. Incandescent avalanches occur to both the southeast and southwest corridor. ...
Friday, Oct 30, 2015
The volcano's activity seems to have picked up a bit compared to recent weeks. A partial collapse of the active dome generated a pyroclastic flow that traveled several km to the south, accompanied by an ash plume that rose to 4-4.5 km altitude and drifted east.
Friday, Oct 23, 2015
A moderately sized pyroclastic flow as result of small collapse of part of the active lava dome occurred this afternoon (Kamchatka time), sending an ash plume to approx. 15,000 ft (4.5 km) altitude. ...
