The volcano continues to slowly extrude viscous lava, which results in occasional small to moderately sized pyroclastic flows (2-3 per day on average).
Unfortunately, it indirectly claimed another victim: heavy rains in recent days have appeared and produced numerous mud flows (lahars) that caused damages in various places, but also a victim: on 9 October, a lahar traveled through the Susuk riverbed near Tiganderket village on the western slope and hit a couple on a motorcycle while crossing the valley. It killed the driver who could not escape the muddy torrent, while his wife survived clinging to a tree trunk.
As to the volcano's activity, VSI reported a gradual decline in the tremor since July, but a slight increase of SO2 and CO2 output as well as inflation of the volcanic edifice on the other hand, which could indicate that a new batch of magma is rising within the volcano.
This could explain a larger explosion and pyroclastic flow that occurred on 13 Oct, producing an ash plume that reached 3 km height and a flow that traveled at least 3 km length.

PVMBG reported that during 21-28 September foggy weather sometimes prevented visual observations of Sinabung and the growing lava dome in the summit crater. Lava flows on the flanks were incandescent as far as 3 km E to SE. As many as five pyroclastic flows per day were detected, traveling as far as 4 km ESE. Ash plumes rose as high as 4.5 km. ... Several pyroclastic flows, some relatively large, have occurred over the past days. While the slow effusive activity itself has not significantly changes, the lava dome and its viscous lava lobes that spilled over onto the steep upper flanks are now undergoing a phase of increased collapses due to increased instability.
