VSI raised the alert level to 2 (Waspada) on a scale of 1-4, but does not specify the reason (likely increased seismic activity). No further details are known for the time being.

Since January, no plumes, changes or seismic activity were observed around the Tambora caldera. On 9 April the Alert Level was lowered to 1 (on a scale of 1-4).

Recente seismische activiteit in de buurt van Tambora vulkaan
Een zwerm van aardbevingen heeft voorgedaan in de buurt van Tambora vulkaan op 16 en 17 februari. Ongeveer 12 aardbevingen groter dan magnitude 2 werden geregistreerd op een diepte tussen 10 en 40 km, geconcentreerd in een gebied aan de kust ongeveer 30 km ten NO van de vulkaan. Tambora volcano in Indonesia is beginning to show signs of life. Since April this year, there have been intermittent swarms of small earthquakes, which repeated themselves towards the end of August. Activity have slowly increased, steam clouds have been observed rising up to the rim of the caldera and the earthquake activity has picked up a bit, too. The alarm level have been raised to 2.
