Telica volcano (Nicaragua) activity update: seismic unrest, occasional earthquake swarms
Friday May 17, 2013 11:24 AM | DOOR: T
Seismic recording from Telica this morning (TELN station, INETER)
Seismic recording from Telica 15 May (TELN station, INETER)
Seismic recording from Telica 12 May (TELN station, INETER)
Seismic activity has returned (for now) to relatively low levels today. This follows many small earthquake swarms that occurred during the past week.
Wednesday, May 01, 2013
Seismic activity has declined and is now again near normal levels (which include frequent earthquakes typical for Telica volcano's behavior).
Monday, Apr 29, 2013
Seismic activity has decreased a bit in energy recently. Although the frequency of earthquakes has slowed down, the quakes, still above background levels, are now of higher magnitude.
Thursday, Apr 25, 2013
The earthquake swarm shows no sign of weakening. The frequency of quakes remains high, although most are very small in magnitudes.
Tuesday, Apr 23, 2013
Numerous small volcanic earthquakes continue at high frequency at the volcano, accompanied by continuous tremor.
Monday, Apr 22, 2013
The seismic swarm continues with frequent, but smaller earthquakes compared to the previous week.

: The Azores, a cluster of volcanic islands in the Atlantic Ocean, are famous for their very pleasant climate, breathtaking green and unspoiled landscapes and nature. They also have deep history and you'll find warm hospitality. Our new tour, guided by a photographer and volcanologist, will lead to five islands: Sao Miguel, Faial, Terceira, Pico and Flores - each with its distinct character to discover.
Introduction to Plate Tectonics
: The Earth's upper, rigid layer is broken into several plates which are in constant motion to one another. Most earthquakes and volcanoes occur as result of these plate boundaries.
