Ubinas volcano (Peru): strong explosion on 15 April

A strong explosion, the largest of the volcano in 2015 so far, occurred on 15 April, producing an ash plume that rose 3.5 km above the crater.
Seismic activity has been elevated since early April, suggesting new magma arriving at the volcano.
The eruptive activity that resumed in early April generated more than 1 mm of ash fall on the villages of Querapi and Ubinas.

Activity at the volcano has been low during the past weeks. Intense steaming and occasional small ash emissions have been reported. However, sudden larger explosions such as the one on 21 Aug, could still occur any time.
