New Zealand continues to dominate the volcanic news.
A thrid volcano has erupted, this time to the NE in the Kermandec archipel. A large 26,000 square km sized pumice raft was detected yesterday. It is speculated that the new eruption is from submarine Monowai volcano, which is one of the most active volcanoes in the region and erupts almost every 1-2 years.

Tongariro volcano has remained calm since the last update.

Overnight activity at White Island has remained at similar levels to yesterday. Volcanic tremor remains weak and a low altitude plume of steam, gas and minor ash is being emitted. During the past few days the plume colour has been changing between pale grey and white as the ash content varies. (GeoNet)
During the night, a period of elevated tremor was visible on the seismic recordings.

Nice glow could be seen during the night from Etna's Bocca Nuova suggesting increased strombolian activity there. The elevated activity corresponded to a peak in tremor as well.
Seismicity remains relatively high at Stromboli suggesting that activity continues at elevated levels.

Popocatépetl in Mexico: During the past day, activity has remained low. The volcano produced about 1 weak explosion per hour emitting mostly steam. A significant SO2 plume was visible on NOOA's satellite image of yesterday. Seismic recordings are currently suffering malfunctioning, but don't suggest much activity.

The active volcanoes in Guatemala, Colombia and Ecuador have not shown any noteable variation in current activity. The seismogram of Fuego volcano shows weak explosions and rumbling from rock avalanches detaching from the front of the active lava flow on the eastern flank.
An increase in activity and a weak explosion was recorded at Tungurahua volcano yesterday.

An impressive SO2 plume from Nyiragongo (and possibly neighboring Nymuragira) was visible on yesterday's satellite image.

Batu Tara (Sunda Islands, Indonesia) erupted again today and produced an ash plume rising to 7,000 ft (2.1 km) altitude.

Sakurajima volcano in Japan produced 5 moderate to weak explosions yesterday, but none so far today. The highest produced an ash plume to 3 km altitude.

Volcanoes in Kamchatka and Alaska are relatively calm at the moment and have not produced significant explosions recently, which is rather unusual. Kizimen volcano still produces an active lava flow on its western flank.
