The small earthquake swarm at El Hierro volcano appears to have ended already. The frequency of quakes has decreased.
Reports of eruptions from Manam volcano in Papua New Guinea have reached Darwin VAA, and an ash plume was detected last night at 8,000 ft (2.4 km) altitude. SO2 plumes had sometimes been visible from the volcano as well.
Signs of a possible reawakening of Alaid stratovolcano in the northern Kuriles have been detected. According to Russian news, steaming was observed from the summit and a thermal anomaly can be seen on MODIS satellite data. Alaid is the tallest and one of the most active of the Northern Kuriles Arc. Its last eruption dates back to 1986.
Fuego volcano in Guatemala has shown further increase of activity: a new lava flow appeared to effuse last night from the summit crater. Explosions have increased as well and produce ash clouds rising up to 1,400 m. Shock waves rattle windows in houses of nearby villages and ash fall occurred in the villages Panimaché I Panimaché II, Villa Morelia and Assumption.
Santiaguito has not had explosive activity during the past day, but the lava flow fronts are still weakly active.
Popocatépetl volcano in Mexico has been very calm compared to previous days. Only 4 low-energy explosions occurred between yesterday and today and the steam plume from the volcano has been much smaller than during most previous days. Glow is still visible at night, though.
A steam and ash emission less than 1 km in height was observed from Reventador volcano in Ecuador during a (rare) window of clear weather.
An very strong SO2 plume continues to be visible from Nyiragongo and/or neighboring Nymuragira.
Sakurajima volcano produced 2 more explosions of small to moderate size with ash rising to 7-8,000 ft (2-2.4 km) altitude.
Seismic activity at Little Sitkin volcano remains elevated, but less than a month ago.
