Volcanic activity worldwide 3 Jul 2013: Etna, Pavlov

Wednesday Jul 03, 2013 17:04 PM |

Location of recent quakes under Etna volcano
Location of recent quakes under Etna volcano
Etna (Sicily, Italy): A small swarm of earthquakes has occurred yesterday under the volcano's eastern flank near the town of Milo. INGV Catania has recorded several quakes around magnitude 0.7-1.3 at depths between 5-9 km.

Pavlov (Alaska Peninsula, USA): Over the past two days, the eruptive activity at Pavlof has greatly declined and AVO reduced the Aviation Color Code back to Yellow and the Volcano Alert Level to Advisory.
Seismic tremor and small discrete explosions are no longer detected in seismic and pressure sensor data. Satellite observations show no evidence of elevated surface temperatures, volcanic gas, or ash emissions. There have been no visual observations from pilots or from webcam images of any eruptive activity since June 26.

Vorig nieuws
Seismic recording from Momotombo volcano yesterday (MOMN station, INETER)
Tuesday, Jul 02, 2013
Momotombo (Nicaragua): A seismic swarm has been occurring at the volcano during the past 24 hours, including a magnitude 3.0 earthquake yesterday. This could indicate a magmatic intrusion happening at depth, but so far, no unusual surface activity has been noted. ... [meer...]
GPS-measured deformation of HEKR station (Univ. Iceland), north of the volcano
Monday, Jul 01, 2013
Hekla (Iceland): The trend of rapid inflation that started in April has not continued, but was partly reverted and significant deformation has stopped for now. Nothing suggests for now that an eruption is imminent, but Hekla is known for providing close to no (seismic) warning before eruptions. ... [meer...]
Sunday, Jun 30, 2013
Tungurahua (Ecuador): IGPEN reports an increase of seismic activity over the past days which might herald a new phase of activity in the near future. ... [meer...]
Explosion from Fuego yesterday (INSIVUMEH)
Saturday, Jun 29, 2013
Fuego (Guatemala): Explosions have become more violent, the latest special bulletin of INSIVUMEH indicates. Mild strombolian eruptions have turned into more powerful vulcanian-type explosions, which eject dense ash plumes rising to 800 m and produce numerous avalanches of blocks around the crater, especially on the southern flank. ... [meer...]
SO2 plume from Ambrym volcano (NOAA)
Friday, Jun 28, 2013
Etna (Sicily, Italy): Except for a small swarm of earthquakes on 20 June, Etna continues to be calm. ... [meer...]
