Volcanic activity worldwide 19 Jul 2013: Sakurajima

Sakurajima (Kyushu, Japan): An ash plume at 20,000 ft (6 km) altitude was reported this morning at 03:08 GMT (12:08 local time). This would be the largest explosion of the volcano in at least 1 year.

Sakurajima (Kyushu, Japan): Activity has remained at very high levels, as if the volcano greets the scientific community arriving from all over the world for the 20-24 July IAVCEI conference.
