Volcanic activity worldwide 10 Jan 2014: Fuego, Sinabung, Etna

Current seismic signal of Fuego (FG3 station, INSIVUMEH)
Etna (Sicily, Italy): Activity and tremor have decreased for now, but weak ash emissions continue to be observed from the NE crater.

Sinabung (Sumatra, Indonesia): Activity of the volcano has remained similar to the previous days. The actively growing lava dome, being a mass of unstable, moderately viscous lava, frequently collapses in parts and produces hot bloack and ash avalanches (pyroclastic flows) that reached up to 4.5 km distance. According to the latest figures, the number of refugees from the 5-7 km exclusion zone has reached approx. 25,000.

Fuego (Guatemala): Seismic activity has decreased at the volcano, suggesting that the latest surge in lava emission (both as larger-than-usual strombolian explosions and lava flow) is over.

Vorig nieuws
Ash emission from Etna's NE crater this morning
Thursday, Jan 09, 2014
Etna (Sicily, Italy): The activity of the volcano has remained similar to the previous days: so far, relatively weak but more or less steady ash emissions are occurring at the North-East crater, and tremor continues its slow rise. Whether this is a precursor to more vigorous activity (from the New SE crater?) remains to be seen probably in the coming days. ... [meer...]
Ash emission from Etna's NE crater
Wednesday, Jan 08, 2014
Etna (Sicily, Italy): Weak sporadic ash emissions have been occurring from the NE crater since yesterday. Tremor is slightly elevated with an overall rising tendency. ... [meer...]
Pulsating degassing at the North-East crater view from Bove Valley (Photo: Emaunela / VolcanoDiscovery Italia)
Tuesday, Jan 07, 2014
Etna (Sicily, Italy): (6 Jan) This morning, the North-East Crater appeared to be covered by ash deposits and strong, pulsating degassing activity continued from it. The volcanic tremor signal is still low. ... [meer...]
Glow from Shiveluch's lava dome at night (KVERT webcam)
Monday, Jan 06, 2014
Shiveluch (Kamchatka): The volcano continues to extrude a viscous lava dome on the NW part of the older dome. Glow from the dome and hot rockfalls can be seen at night. Small to moderate ash explosions likely accompany this activity but are often undetected due to frequent cloud cover. ... [meer...]
Map of yesterday's earthquakes at El Hierro
Sunday, Jan 05, 2014
El Hierro (Canary Islands, Spain): The island has remained calm with not much signs of volcanic unrest. Two small earthquakes (magnitudes 2.8 and 1.7) occurred at approx 10 km depth east of La Restinga yesterday, but so far, there have not been new ones since. ... [meer...]
