Stromboli (Eolian Islands, Italy): (12 Jul) The activity at the volcano remains elevated, but seems to be decreasing compared to previous days.
Judging from visible observations there seem to be less strong and less frequent explosions, and the lava flow(s) from the new SW vent have been reduced and if still active are limited to the upper slopes. Tremor amplitude although still high has also overall been decreasing during the past days.
The attached images show the changes of the crater and the position of the new vent in the SW corner of the crater terrace, following the explosion and partial crater collapse during the paroxysm on 3 July.
