Öraefajökull volcano (Iceland): magnitude 3.4 earthquake

Light seismic unrest continues at the volcano. This morning, a shallow magnitude 3.4 earthquake occurred this morning 3.2 km SE of Hvannadalshnjúkur under the volcano's caldera.
Whether this quake is related to volcanic activity or gravitational adjustments of the ice or something else is unknown.

A magnitude 3.1 earthquake occurred yesterday under the northern caldera of the volcano. Its very shallow depth (given as 100 m) suggests that it is most likely caused by adjustments of the glacier and not by a magma intrusion. ... [more]
