The effusive-explosive eruption of the volcano continues at high levels.
The western eruptive fissure remains active and continues to feed the lava flow onto the west-southwest slope at high rate. The rapidly advancing lava flow continues to burn the local vegetation and reaches the inhabited areas.
The lava-fountaining (so-called paroxysm) episodes with intense strombolian activity continue to occur from the Mackenney summit crater. The explosive activity generated large and dense ash plumes that reached an estimated altitude of about 12,000 ft (3,700 m).
